Why make me got through all this trouble to register?, you might ask. In a world of desperate spam-mongers, we need to have some level of authentication so that we can prevent spam-bots from posting links to Viagra and penis-enlargers.

The timezone option allows you to see the post times in your local time. Melbourne is GMT+10 (the default timezone). If you aren't in Melbourne, check this page for other Australian cities' timezones (just click on your city).

Privacy Options

The privacy options are used to determine how and if you would like to be contacted from the forums.

There are 3 options:

  • Display your e-mail address. - The least secure option. You are inviting spam to your inbox. Not recommended.
  • Hide your e-mail address but allow form e-mail. - This means that people can't see your email address on the forum pages, but can still contact you directly through an email form. You will receive an email from them, but they won't know your email address. Recommended.
  • Hide your e-mail address and disallow form e-mail. - This means that people cannot contact you at all from the forum.

Finally, there's a checkbox to ask if you would like to "Save username and password between visits." This feature allows you to be "remembered" between visits. If you don't click this, it means you have to enter your login details every time you come to the site. If you do click this, your browser needs to have cookies enabled.

Click "Register"!
