It was a Harkness fellowship that initially sent Tony to New York. For 21 months he developed his craft and indulged in the art filling the streets of this vibrant city. Catching a Warhol film at Greewich Village was one of the first things he did after stepping off the plane. The Chelsea Hotel was his place of residence and it was here that he befriended fellow artist Brett Whitley.
